Enlit Europe is widely recognised as one of the key annual meeting points for the European energy community, bringing together industry leaders, technology providers, policymakers and researchers working on the transformation of the energy system (15,000+ energy professionals, 700+ exhibitors, and 500+ speakers).

The event offers a unique environment for presenting new technologies, exchanging research results and fostering cooperation across the rapidly evolving energy transition ecosystem.

This year, FEDECOM proudly joined the EU Projects Zone, contributing to the joint booth “Flexible Solutions Empowering Citizens” alongside ten Horizon Europe projects:

Together, the participating projects presented a range of innovative solutions aimed at strengthening citizen participation, enabling flexibility services and supporting the development of decentralised energy systems across Europe.

A Joint Booth Dedicated to Citizen Empowerment

The joint booth showcased interoperable technologies designed to enable energy flexibility, optimise local energy systems and strengthen citizen participation in decentralised energy networks. Each project presented its own research activities, digital platforms, pilot sites and community-driven approaches.

Through demonstrations and exchanges with visitors, the booth illustrated how digital solutions and locally driven initiatives can enable citizens to play an active role in Europe’s energy transition.

The Innovation Map provided visitors with a visual overview of pilot sites across Europe, highlighting the geographical diversity of demonstration activities and the importance of local experimentation in advancing innovative energy solutions.

During the event, FEDECOM delivered a panel presentation titled “The Role of Citizens as Key Enablers of Positive Energy Districts”, exploring how citizen engagement, governance models and digital platforms can support flexibility services and accelerate the development of community-driven energy systems.

FEDECOM also contributed to a roundtable discussion on “Engagement and Governance in Community-Driven Districts”, addressing key challenges related to governance structures, stakeholder engagement and the integration of citizens into emerging decentralised energy markets.

Collaboration Across Projects

The event also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration among European projects working on energy flexibility solutions.

These exchanges help reinforce knowledge sharing, support replication strategies and maximise the impact of EU-funded research and innovation initiatives.

FEDECOM would like to thank its consortium members Veolia, R2M Spain, Grid Singularity, Ibredrola and SmartEn who actively participated in the event and represented the project throughout the exhibition.

Their participation contributed to showcasing FEDECOM’s work on interoperable digital platforms, energy community solutions and citizen-centred flexibility services.
